Cunning Linguistics: #1 Tool of Tyranny

In Politics by Staff Writer0 Comments

Obama on Rights vs PriviledgesThroughout history we have seen it repeated time and time again. Tyrants rise to power on the hot air of great oratory. Linguistic gymnastics have been the downfall of many great civilizations and may well be our downfall in America as well. I have seen several news stories here lately that provoked the same reaction from me when I read them. “Come on people, words have meanings…”

In his Presidential Proclamation – Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, Constitution Week, 2014  President Obama said, “Our Constitution reflects the values we cherish as a people and the ideals we strive for as a society.  It secures the privileges we enjoy as citizens…” Now some may say it is nit-picking, but the Bill of Rights clearly protects and guarantees our unalienable natural RIGHTS as human beings independent of government existence.

The Fighting Way of the Kitchen Knife

In Knives by Staff Writer0 Comments

When things go bump in my night, I reach for my Springfield Armory .45 caliber, semi-auto handgun by the bed. And if things go bump through the day, I have several pistols stationed around my house within the fine legend of the old “lunge and reach” rule. You might say that I need this security above and beyond the usual safety concerns of citizens. After almost two decades as a police detective in Texas, I was primarily involved in sending criminals to prison. Murders, robbers, rapist and flat out lousy people. And now through the years they are being released from jail. And, if one of them gets frisky enough”¦well, I just need some guns around.

When things go bump in your night? What do you have? I do feel sorry for you if you cannot feel the soothing heft of at very least a pistol in your vulnerable hand at that primal moment. But, never mind that whole no-gun-thing right now because I actually want to talk to you about knives, not guns. Specially kitchen knives.

I get a fair amount of correspondence asking me about knife training. And some folks demand “tactical folder” training only, and in particular “not about that big knife stuff.” No fixed blade knives because…

What does it mean to be “An American”?

In Politics by Staff Writer0 Comments

Of course the quick easy, legal answer is that they were born in America, born to American citizen parents or went through the legal process to become a naturalized citizen. However, that barely even scratches the surface of what it means to be An American, because to be brutally honest there are a lot of citizens of this great nation who are NOT an American at all in the deeper sense. In essence there are three types of Americans...The recent 9-11 remembrances got me thinking… Always a dangerous thing. That thinking was followed by a question from one of our followers, who asked me to define a III%er. So, I gave that some thought and expanded on it to try and define what it means to be “An American”. What makes someone an American? Of course the quick easy, legal answer is that they were born in America, born to American citizen parents or went through the legal process to become a naturalized citizen. However, that barely even scratches the surface of what it means to be An American, because to be brutally honest there are a lot of citizens of this great nation who are NOT an American at all in the deeper sense. In essence there are three types of Americans; An American (with a capital A) who embraces the ideals and principles that this nation was founded upon, an american (with a little a) who somewhat supports those principles and ideals but doesn’t really engage in the process or fight to protect them and an american in the legal sense, in name only, that doesn’t really care for the principles and ideals but enjoys the benefits of being an american. What I am talking about here is what it means to be An American with a capital A.

Enemies of the Republic

If you are like me, you may see the state our country is in and recognize we are in decline. You have a firm belief that we are going in the wrong direction, the more left we turn away from our origins that Founded our country. Perhaps you feel so badly about the situation our government is in that you can’t see any daylight and believe we are witnessing the final years of our great nation, and it will soon end in calamity. I can’t argue any of that, and in fact I agree strongly enough that I write a fiction series based on it that I pray won’t become an example of life imitating art.

Some things should be obvious to you, that you should have the right to earn an income and provide for your family the way you want, and keep them safe from threats of criminal aggression. That taking the means of defense away is an act of tyranny. That the government does not have any lawful authority to take these Rights from you.
Among the natural rights of the Colonists are these: First, a right to life; Secondly, to liberty; Thirdly, to property; together with the right to support and defend them in the best manner they can. These are evident branches of, rather than deductions from, the duty of self-preservation, commonly called the first law of nature. ~Samuel Adams
